Making rivers and mountains the focus of a spring break in AZ

Heading to Arizona in spring is growing more popular. Water fun is the focus of Lake Havasu City no matter what time of year.

In the spring months, before the soaring triple digits of true summer hit, heading to places like Lake Havasu in Arizona is very popular. The combinations of river and water fun plus the beauty and sport of the mountains make this especially popular for college students on spring break. However, this location offers a wide variety of outdoors options no matter what time of year it might be.

Located along the Colorado River, Lake Havasu is forty-five miles long. Due to the mild spring and fall weather, the lake offers an exceptionally long boating season, making it popular with boating fans from all over the West. Rentals in the area are plentiful. If you wish to rent a boat for spring break, reserve well in advance. Staying on a house boat for spring break let's you cruise effortlessly from party to party, or just have your own.

If you wish to avoid spring break, trying visiting Lake Havasu City sometime outside the months of April through May. Motorized personal water craft are allowed on Lake Havasu so fans of jet skis or water skiing can be assure of getting their watery speeds fixes. Canoes or kayaks are also a great way to explore some of the quieter sections of the lake. Many people like to do river tours by drifting downstream slowly in inflatable rubber inner tubes or boats.

For campers and explorers, nearby are many options for hiking, four-wheeling, tenting, car camping, fishing, bird-watching, mountain biking and more. Parker AZ is home to the William's Wildlife Refuge, a favorite location to do any of the just-listed activities. In full summer, the daytime temps can be quite warm, so those who don't like heavy heat will do better to do their camping in spring or fall.

Getting to Lake Havasu and the surrounding area can be done by flying to Las Vegas or Phoenix, and then driving the remaining distance. Driving from Southern California is also a popular option for those from that area who are towing their own boats.

One focus for visitors is the London Bridge. Yes, it's the actual London Bridge from London, England. It was falling down, was sold by the city of London, dismantled and sent to the US, and reconstructed at Lake Havasu City. It runs across a narrow channel near Thompson Bay. There is an entire resort, English Village and visitor center there as well.
