Three weeks to Hawaii!

Making a packing strategy

I know I can be one who easily overpacks when traveling so I'm working to make a strategy to what I pack and what I don't.

Even if I show up with just one bag, I've got some friends who look skeptical. I know... there have been times in the past when I've arrived somewhere with one nominal piece of luggage, only the person who offers to carry it learns the hard way I've broken new mass density records for airline travel. And there have been plenty of time I've been maneuvering my luggage somewhere thinking, why did I bring all this stuff?

So, the plan was, make the huge pile and then reduce, reduce, reduce! I did just that. I opened the closet, imagine myself at my event and went outfit crazy. I folded it all into nice little piles. Then I did some practical research on weather for Oahu at that time of year. A good number of items were pulled for being inappropriate temperature-wise. An easy cull.

Then I counted how many days I'd be gone and cut excessive things like too many shirts or pairs of shorts. Then I really did some outfit planning. Items were compared for how well they went with other potentials, with the idea that everything had to match every single other top or bottom for pairing up. Then I adjusted to have just one of things for warmest or coolest weather wear.

What I've got left is about four outfits that all interchange with each other completely. Perfect for a week in Hawaii.
